I got this error when I was trying to clone a Bitbucket repo on ubuntu. After searching for few hours and reading this link I found a solution. I had to read the complete discussion up to bottom. But now you don’t need to read the full article on bitbucket .

Simple solution step by step

Step 1:- ping bitbucket.org

you will see response like this

64 bytes from bitbucket.org ( icmp_seq=1 ttl=51 time=354 ms
64 bytes from bitbucket.org ( icmp_seq=2 ttl=51 time=350 ms is the ip address that we need.

Step2:- Now we need to edit host file. In ubuntu use this command

sudo nano /etc/hosts

to reach your  host file. And paste line like this bitbucket.org

Now save hosts file and that’s it.

Now try to push or clone bitbucket repo , you will definitely get suceess. Hoping this may save your time 🙂 .
